Tuesday Throwdown

I was visiting Kim Scherrod's Studio again today and thought I would try another card. I used some retired CTMH items on this one. I have to change my ways. Start using up that paper! I used Amethyst and Heavenly Blue, Victorian Snowflake and the retired Christmas Scripts stamp set. I also used a retired snowflake button, amethyst ribbon and Background and Texture Paper. The White Daisy ricrac is from the Ricrac Collection. I embossed the snowflakes with Silver Pearl Embossing Powder.

A Tri Fold Card

I finally tried making the Tri Fold card everyone was talking about. Once I got all of the dimensions figured out, it wasn't hard at all. I used all CTMH products.

We spent a great weekend in October at the Hotel Pattee in Perry. The weather was gorgeous, all of the family was there and we had some good food too. I got Jim to stop and poise by this fellow on Sunday morning.

I decided to try a color challenge. I have been looking at so many great ideas over the past years, and this looked like fun. Over at the Sherrod Studio, Kim Sherrod is having a Tuesday Throwdown Color Challenge. Mary Vogel, a fellow consultant, suggested we try this. The color challenge consists of: Brown Bag, Buttercup and Cranberry. So here goes:

I used:
Spot On Backgrounds
With Love
Cranberry ribbon
Colonial White ribbon
Colonial White, Brown Bag, Buttercup and Cranberry card stock
Pop dots
Coluzzel

I am just loving the new Workshop on the Go projects! Here is an example of the cards you can make from the Twitterpated kit. The colors are a bit washed out in the picture, but in real life they are so cute.
Twitterpated Workshop Kit:
Twitterpated Level 2 Paper Pack
Exclusive Stamp Set Hello There
Designer Ribbon Rounds Chocolate Collection
Instruction Brochure for cards and layouts
In addition, I used:
Chocolate, Sorbet and SweetLeaf Stamp Pads
Dimensional Elements in Color-Organic
Natural Hemp
Basic Brads
Just give me a call or email me at tris0755ks@aol.com for more information on how to get the new Workshop on the Go kits. Or check out my website

Family

I asked for current pictures of the kids. They came through, so here they are. Katie and Kyle took a picture with their pups in front of their home.
Jamie and Cara were taking pictures around Iowa State.
So nice to see their smiling faces.

Some club projects

I saw an example of a card like this on my Uplines website. I just love the Caprice paper pack, and sometimes I forget about all of the wonderful paper that we have come out with. I used Crystal Blue and Honey cardstock with Chocolate ink.

I also showed my group how you can use one pattern from our fabulous card making books to make different cards. We actually made the birthday one. I used Wishes and the pattern called Gallery.

Here are the other two cards made using the Gallery pattern from Wishes. I used Autumn Terracota fibers for the lion's mane.

This card idea came from Jeanette's blog.
She used a CD sleeve and covered it with paper. Made a little card to slip in the inside and voila! you have a cute card. I used Blue Ribbon paper for my card. Check out Jeanette's blog at

It's Your Day!

The August Stamp of the Month is a great stampset to use for any kind of celebration you might have. Make an invitation, make a card, make a festive layout with this great set. Here I have made a 6x6 card using Twilight, Sunflower, Sunny Yellow and Clover Meadow card stock. Added some pewter brads and I have a great card to share. I used the Pieced Together card pattern found on page 34 in Wishes. Also, on page 61 of Imagine, I used the Empressing with Metal-rimmed Tags Technique on the Sunflower cardstock. Order D1352 It's Your Day now only during August. You might even get it FREE!

Home Away from Home

Here's our little getaway at the lake. Just a one bedroom, but it's all mine! We spent vacation with the kids here. Six people and 3 dogs (small dogs, but still) It was a bit crowded, but we had a great time. You can't see the house to well for the trees, but the shade is glorious when it's hot. We ate all of our meals on the screened in porch.

Here's Katie learning how to wake board. Picked it up right away. She's a better man than me!

July Stamp of the Month card

Only a couple of days left to get this stamp set. Here is a card I made for a swap using You've Got Flair, Baby Pink Card stock, Crystal Blue Card stock, Chocolate card stock, ink and Chocolate ribbon. I used our great How To book Wishes for the pattern.

I'm just a cuttin' fool!

Just ask any of my customers who have taken a class or been in a club. I love to cut and I think it's a way to accent your pages with just a little bit of effort. Oh, they moan and groan and complain about it, but I really think they secretly like it.
Here is an example of a 2 page layout we did at the July club. With the help of Katie and Imagine, we came up with a design using the Tinkerin Level 2 paper pack. I think we ended up cutting out about 19 gears. Gear Up was the stamp set we used.

Bubba the cat fish

We went down to the lake last week to get a few things done. There is no furniture yet, just a couple of mattresses and a few chairs. It's like starting over. Katie and Kyle came down too and helped with some shopping, and cleaning. Katie caught this cat fish, but then let him go. Slowly, we will get more things done later. Had to have some fun too!

Going to the lake

We are so excited!! Just about to close on a lake house. It's small, (really small) but it's my own and can't wait. Hopefully, we can just go down and relax, float around and cool off. This is a picture from a listing, so it isn't our stuff, yet. But give us time, we will get it set up just right!
